The title of this article is taken from the movie Forest Gump, one of my favorite films of all-time. In fact I remember asking a number of ladies at the time the movie was in the theatres, if they could ever date or marry a guy like Forest Gump? The answer was sadly 90% no! I started to think what do people want out of life? What about values, honesty and standing up for what you believe in.

When it comes to nutrition, I believe in values, honesty and standing up for what I know is right!

Recently on Facebook I posted some pictures post workout and what would be most beneficial to utilize to recover from exercise. The Whey Protein Powder crowd was not happy with me and I will not back down from what I know is right!

Following any exercise routine, the key is recovery. The premise to overload the body with protein immediately is not wise. The stress it puts on the liver, kidneys and digestive system is tremendous. We both know that “Whey Protein” is a Multi-Billion Dollar Industry and it is pushed hard in the marketing world-Men, Women and now Children. Amazing how the sludge from milk which is what Whey Protein really is can be sold as a healthy way to recover and build muscle.

My advice is simply to allow your digestive system to function optimally. When you provide it organic fruit (non-acidic) directly after a workout-nothing cooked or processed this will allow your body to utilize the enzymes from the fruit to replenish the minerals lost after exercise.

Protein especially animal (Whey) sits in your stomach for a few hours and often is not completely broken down (animal protein can sit in your colon for years). While protein is needed to live and function, replacing minerals lost after exercise is critical to recovery.

I welcome your feedback and just because someone tells you this or that works, look at the source of the information.

As Forest Gump would say, “Stupid is as Stupid Does!”
